Vhal and Chad's Left for Dead Prenup Shoot

Val and Chad ready to kick some zombie ass.

Just like High School Friends, the friends you meet in College have a special place in your heart,, especially if you were able to maintain the friendship even after graduation.

That was also the case with our friendship with Valerie or 'Vhal'.

Paul first saw Valerie when she was a freshman in College and they were both cast in the play 'Wanted a Muchacho' but since they were both taking up the same course (Computer Science) they got to know each other better and together with our other friend Jomart shared the same passion and love for drawing. Which is why they all ended up being part of the College Publication as Cartoonists where I also joined eventually as a writer and the rest is history.

Solo of Chad- looks like this one belongs in the movies.

Last year Val got engaged and she asked us to have a prenup shoot for them. They have an official prenup shoot here but they still wanted to have a 'fun' and unofficial shoot to show their quirky side. You should see their invitations they are sooo cute and unique! (Val is engaged to Chad who is also a cartoonist; Yes! Val was fortunate enough to be able to make her passion into her profession).

After much discussion via Facebook with our other Flambeau (that is the name of the College Publication) friends, (we are lucky enough to stay in contact with them even after graduation) we all decided to have a Zombie Prenup shoot. This was because Vhal and Chad both loved the game 'Left for Dead'. :)
Evil is lurking. Kaye as the zombie waiting for her next victim.

With our good cosplayer friend Kaye- on board as the zombie. We scheduled our zombie shoot and the venue was in an old house, conveniently located at the back of the house of Val's best friend.

So here are some of the photos during the shoot. Yeah we've been pretty swamped lately and we still have a lot of photos to go through but since the wedding of Val and Chad is coming up soon we had to post some photos already.

So here they are! Hope you guys like them! :)

Close to you. Yup. I just love that Walking Dead ad.

Evil up close.

Props for Kaye for going all out in this shoot. Her feet were literally black already from all the dust and walking around barefoot.

Not exactly the best time to propose- aye? Chad?

You don't want to mess with these two.

Marry Me? Boomer making a cameo.

Slaying the zombie.

Yup they got their Happy Ending.
It was a challenge to shoot in a dark house and we were also working for the first time with a two-light strobe set up. But it was still a fun shoot and a good genre

Paul's inputs:
On the photographical side  of things, it was as stated earlier, a challenge since the light outside was very minimal(drizzling and cloudy during the shoot), and there were no light source inside the abandoned house.

We used, Canon 430 EXII and Nissin Di866 Pro.  I had to figure out how to make the 2 speedlight communicate, even on 'manual' mode both units aren't budging(maybe because the Nissin strobe is made for Nikon cameras? - Paul thinking to self :D).  Either way, we got the two flashes talking and played with it to get a dark and sinister feel.

We're still working on a few photos to get the this project completed.  We really are busy for the past few weeks, but we'll get the ball rolling and the photos up, really soon!

It is such an honor to be part of Val and Chad's wedding preparations and We're just so happy to see our friend, who was with us for more  than just our College years-get married! At this point you just realize that you and your friends are already getting married and some already have their families but growing up and growing old doesn't mean you have to be boring as well. Take a hint from Val and Chad with their fun and quirky Left for Dead Prenup Shoot.

Follow up photos:

This prenup shoot was made possible also with Val and Chad's best friends.

Here are some follow-up photos of the prenup shoot and the people who made it all possible.
